Taste of Mesquite Barbecue Cook-off
Sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbecue Society
The Real. Texas. Festival. presented by Dodge and the Mesquite Service League have teamed up to create the Taste of Mesquite Barbecue Cook-off, Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26, 2008 as part of the festival.
Cooks from all over the state and region are invited to compete for the $500 Grand Champion prize, as well as for awards for the top three places in the categories of brisket, pork spare ribs and one half chicken. All in all, the contest has a $2,000 pay out.
The contest is sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbecue Society and cooks will follow all of the rules and procedures set forth by LSBS. For more on the LSBS and the rules for the contest, as well as to download the official entry form, click here (www.lonestarbarbecue.com).
The top three finishers in each category will earn valuable points toward the Cooker of the Year award for 2008, as well as earn the right to compete in the National Barbecue Championship in October in Meridian.
The Mesquite Service League will produce the cook-off for the Real. Texas. Festival. and cook-off will serve as a fundraiser for the league.
