Los Reyes de Dallas Mariachi Band

The Mariachi band Los Reyes de Dallas was founded in 1984 by Floriberto Jamaica, Gerardo Giron, and Edgar Estrada. “Los Reyes De Dallas” means The Kings of Dallas..

The mariachi band has gained both local and state recognition by taking part in several mariachi competitions. In 1984, Univision organized the first Mariachi competition in the Dallas Ft. Worth metroplex. Los Reyes De Dallas participated and won 1st place acquiring the trophy “El Sombero de Plata”. This competition set the stage for local recognition for the band. The mariachi has also taken part in several state wide mariachi competitions, including competitions in the cities of Houston and San Antonio. In both competitions they also took 1st place. In 1995 Los Reyes De Dallas were invited assist with the annual mariachi workshop in San Antonio, which is hosted by the internationally known Mariachi Vargas.

The mariachi band continued placing themselves in the DFW local music scene by appearing in a television program named "De Todo Un Poco (A little of everything)". It was transmitted on Channel 29 and hosted by Franciso Obregón. Los Reyes de Dallas, have often been invited to perform with many international artists in local performances, including, Yolando del Rio, Ana Barbara, Beatriz Adriana, Pepe Aguilar, Pablo Montero, Leo Dan, and many more.

Los Reyes de Dallas have recorded several CD’s that include music ranging from modern top hits as well as the more traditional mariachi genre. These CD’s are available for purchase. The band is currently composed of 9 members: two trumpets: Jose and Abrahan, three violins: Gerardo, Michael, and Pedro, vihuela: Edgar, guitars: Floriberto and Victor, and guitarron: Gerardo.

After two decades of offering music to our wonderful clientele we thank them for there support and hope to continue to be a part of their events.
