L’Angelus

Expert musicians, incredible singers and top-notch live entertainers, L'Angelus combines the best of Louisiana's music traditions: cajun fiddle tunes for the dance crowd, saxophone driven swamp-pop and New Orleans influenced R&B.

The result is a live show that rolls along with what has been called "the instrumental energy of a freight train that knows no boundaries."

The band has lived all over the U.S. and have gleaned different musical styles from these regions -- from folk and bluegrass to pop and country -- that they have seamlessly blended with their Cajun roots. L'Angelus likes to throw the popular vintage rock and country tunes into their live show. "We find that most of the crowds like to mix it up,” said bass player Paige Rees. “They like Hank Williams and they like Brown Eyed Girl and they like the Orange Blossom Special. And we like to give the audience what they like. You know why? Because if you sing a song that people know, then you have a bond. And once you have the bond then they want you to sing them a song you wrote.

"We write songs that celebrate some of the recurring themes in the lives of our Cajun and Irish ancestors: love that survives hardship; a faith that embraces the beauty of humanity and Heaven; and a dance beat that keeps us synced to one another. Those are happy themes and our job is to make the people happy."

L’Angelus is Katie Rees, guitar and vocals; Paige Rees, bass and vocals; John Rees, percussion, vocals; and Steve Rees, fiddle, saxophone, mandolin, penny whistle, harmonica and vocals.
